Large= 7 " Long x 6 1/2" Wide

The Sniper Skid Plate was developed as a solution to shooting a sniper system off of hard barricades. It is simple, efficient, non-intrusive and economical.
The Gen 1 version focused on attaching the Skid Plate to the rifle stock with Adhesive Backed Velcro. While this did work, it was time to upgrade to a Gen 2. This version uses the same ABV to attach, but also uses a lace up system using 550 cord which works on AR systems with a Picatiny rail, such as the SR-25, AR-10 and more of the semi-auto rifles in the field.(The SMALL version does not included the lace up system)
The construction is closed cell foam, covered by Cordura 1000, and covered in a rubber non-skid material. This material covers both sides of the Skid Plate creating a surface which will not slide on your stock, or on any barricade your shooting off.

Here are some FAQ about the Skid Plate:

1-What does it do?..
.It allows you to shoot off a barricade accurately, and negates the recoil physics of the rifle recoil. If you do not use an intermediate soft material, such as a bean bag, a jacket, it causes a reaction where the rifle will "Jump" on recoil and will severely impede your ability to take a follow up shot.
This also prevents slippage of the hard wood or fiberglass stock on the barricade, protects your pain or wood finish, and prevents chipping and scratching of the surface.
An advanced technique involves suspending it from an overhead support beam or rafter in order to shoot from an urban hide. This is done using the support tie down points on each side. The hearbeat can be clearly seen after extreme exertion and looking thru a scope. The use of the Sniper Skid Plate when shooting positional, removes this jump in the reticle, by neutralizing the pulse beat in your hand. This is the same concept Olympic shooting gloves work off of.
As a police or military sniper, you may have to quick change positions in rain or sweaty conditions. By using the Sniper Skid Plate, you are can grab the forestock with one hand and move without your grip slipping off of fiberglass or laminated wood.

2-Will it come off?
Yes, the Adhesive Back Velcro is removable with no damage to paint or wood, and it stays on securely until your ready to remove it.

3-Why not use on of the other knockoff versions on the market?
You could, but the difference between comp gear and operational sniper gear is how it performs in the field, and the testing that has gone into it to make sure you have the best gear available to you. It makes not difference if you are an operational sniper deep in the mountains of a foreign land, operating domestically as a police or federal services sniper, or a competitor who likes to test his skill. You will know that what you are using has been designed, vetted, and produced to be the best gear in the world.

4-Who is Chuck Mawhinney, and why is he endorsing this product as part of his line?
Chuck is a veteran sniper who appreciates high quality equipment and gear, and understands how important it is in the field. You can read all about him and his amazing background here.

5-Who came up with the Skid Plate?
The Sniper Skid Plate was originally devised and designed by Phil Hagoes. The idea came from attending a Precision Rifle course at Rifles Only in Texas. While running thru a barricade course, he realized that there had to be a better way to cushion a rifle than using a rear bean bag. This led to a low profile wrap which solved a common problem in an unconventional way.

6-Do I really need this? If you are a serious sniper or hunter, then yes, you do.
If you are hunting out of a hide, shooting competitively or real world off barricades, then this will make your job far easier. In the business of angles, inches and seconds, you want all the advantage you can get.

This product is made 100% in the USA, in a Veteran operated business, and was designed and built by Americans.

I purchased Sniper Skid Plate and I am so glad that I did. I went to the range with my new Skid Plate on my Kimber Advance Tactical Rifle. I placed the rifle in a rest, but it slipped out and I caught yhe rifle before falling to the ground. But I know that the forearm was saved from some big scratches because of the Sniper Skid Plate

I bought the sniper skid plate for multiple reasons. To begin with I don't like lugging around more gear than I have to. The skid plate going onto the rifle and not adding bulk or weight while it the same time having multiple uses was a big plus. I also like having a functional yet unique look to my rifles and this fit that check box as well.

The first skid plate I purchased was for my precision AR build in black. Comparing the dimensions of my roundish Seekins keymod hand guards to the listed dimensions of the skid plate I decided to go with a medium. Perfect fit! The skid plate comes up even to the top of the keymod section on the 3 & 9 o'clock positions, while being snug against the bottom half of the handguards. For those concerned with over-heating, the vent holes on the top of the hand guards were still completely exposed. Lacing fits great in the picatinny rails along the top with enough extra to be able to bring both ends to the same side and use only one of the provided cord locks.

My second skid plate was another medium, this time in coyote that I put on a flat-bottomed set of Seekins SP3R MLOK rails. Once again the compatibility of the dimensions of the two products was perfect, with the skid plate tight against the flat bottom and coming up to the top of the MLOK sections on the sides. Lacing was once again long enough that only one cord lock was needed. Color fit into the all FDE scheme of the rifle perfectly.

The feel of the skid plate is quite comfortable and grippy which gives a good hand hold for regular carry. Enough so that I am giving serious consideration to replacing the polymer covers on my 10" hand guards with a skid plate.

For the intended use of providing a soft contact between the rifle and hard surfaces the skid plate can't be beat. Barricades, picnic tables, sides of truck beds, bumpers, rocks, and even some tree branches there was a noticeably more secure feel while using my rifle with the skid plate attached. The 7 inch length is just right to allow mounting of a picatinny rail adapter for my Atlas bipod at a mid-range position on the rifle while providing a good amount of surface for a hand hold when the bipod legs are forward.

The looks and feel of the skid plate say "quality construction" and I would not hesitate to purchase more for future builds or recommend the product to people. For such a versatile peice the price can't be beat.

I was a little skeptical about purchasing this product at first due to the price. Upon receiving the item and inspecting the quality of it I knew it was worth every penny. This skid pad was built to last. You won't be disappointed if you decide to purchase. Don't settle for anything less simply because of cost. This is one of those instances where you actually do get what you pay for. All the products Triad Tactical sells are of the same quality.

I bought this produce for an AR pistol with a rail hand guard. After placing the order I received a call from Steve checking order details. I ordered a small size in OD. He said they were out of that size and as a result we agreed that a large would work. Got it today and laced it on. Perfect fit! I haven't done anything but install it and handle the pistol with it installed. Beautiful handling qualities, plus excellent workmanship. Very good value and utility.
